New Year

To start the new year off with some good news, I recently sold one of my paintings called Wilderness which was part of the Pennine series.

I have let my painting and sketching laps recently as I've been tied up with other tasks, including chasing the post office for 'missing in action' parcels. Unfortunately, in the parcel were a couple of sketches meant for a gallery in Devon which are of course irreplacable - this makes me sad as I think there is probably a light fingered postal worker in one of the offices.

My intention is now to sketch some more nudes for the gallery and this time use a private courier to get them there soundly!

This weekend I finished a painting I had started before I moved house but it was packed up and forgotten about.
It's only a small painting but I like it nonetheless! It's currently for sale at Artgallery

I havent blogged for a while, mainly as I havent been painting much - concentrating on my photography at the moment!
I have, however, sold a couple of peices including one of my favourites 'Pennine Way'.

My sister moved house recently and returned a couple of my old peices to me including these 4 cheeky chappies that I painted when my nephew was born.

They are slightly bigger than A4 and will shortly be for sale online.

I have been painting recently even though my photography has been taking over slightly.

I've been concentrating on a new style of landscape painting as I've now moved to the city but really miss the wild hills of Littleborough and the Pennines.

This is one of the paintings which is available to buy at Littleborough Art Gallery.

My car MOT sneaked up on me this year and I've been without a vehicle for a few days whilst its in the shop.

So I've had to put the photography on hold.

I actually like being without a car, I have a fine bicycle and I live in Salford, Manchester near to both a bus station, trams and a train station so I really dont have any excuse for not getting around.

The problem lies with jobs in areas that do not have great public transport and of course I cant carry my artwork around on the bike, it's just too darn big.

Anyhoo, the car will shortly be back up and running and I'll be back in business!

I hope everyone has a great new year! I've sold my last painting of 2009 and just shipped it out. Unfortunately, as it was over the xmas period I had trouble obtaining packaging and the substitute cardboard was much too heavy. Lesson learnt.

I'm still painting, I've started on another flower painting and I'm continuing on a landscape I've been working on.

Got some lovely coloured acrylic paint in the sales so all systems go!!

I love getting commissions, as I'm sure everyone does and I love trying out new styles of paintings but what really makes me happy is painting just cos I want to.
I've made it a challenge this week to produce at least one peice of artwork a day whether photography, art, sketch or something else creative. I've caught up with loads of little half finished jobs I've not had a spare moment to do, taken some whimsical photos (helped with a little sprinkling of snow making everything christmasy) and sketched/painting things I've wanted to paint. In my own time, to my own tastes. I'm not saying they're any different in quality to commissioned pieces but it takes the stress out of it- I'm a perfectionist and over-critical of my work when I know it's for someone else.
I dont know if I will be able to keep up my challenge of 'one a day' but I will certainly give it a go!!

I've been getting back into photography this week after having a wee break. The change in season creates beautiful landscapes which is one of my favourite things to snap.
I'm not one to set up a photo with a softbox or take portraits, for me the joy in photography is to be able to be in the right place at the right time with my camera, capturing that moment.

My first post on this new blog! hoorah!.
This blog is to diarise my artwork as I dont get chance to update my website as often as I'd like to and it doesnt go into detail about what I'm currently working on.

At the moment I'm working on 3 paintings for Foundry Hill Bar, Bingley. I've had my work in there for just over a year now and so it needs changing about. I took some pieces over the other day but they're too small so I'm painting something to swap them out with.

Unfortunately, I've run out of a paint so I shall have to go purchase some tomorrow!!

I've been doing some less detailed, striking pieces lately on tiny wee canvases - perfect for Christmas!
